Spaceship Operator <=> (it’s a Java pun)

Fabio is Axiom Zen’s pun-loving software engineer.
Fabio’s childhood in São Paulo, Brazil was punctuated by the electronic screeching that defined the dial-up era. Only able to reliably access the internet after midnight, the young boy’s laptop – easily confused for a comically-sized calculator – would sing its nightly pterodactyl mating call as he learned about his newfound loves of videogames and coding.
After completing his Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems at the Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, Fabio took on numerous internships and consulting positions. He went on to work at places like Navita, where he helped maintain the intranet systems of Brazil’s leading paper industry company, and Universol Online (UOL), Brazil’s largest internet portal, where he worked on internal APIs and PagSeguro, an e-commerce product for online transactions and payments.
Despite the vast and varied work-related accomplishments, Fabio considers the move to New York to enroll in Flatiron School his greatest achievement. Experiencing culture shock for the first time – the colourful Brazilian in constant contrast with Manhattan’s greys and blacks – Fabio learned and excelled with Ruby on Rails.
Employed by Axiom Zen three months after completing Flatiron’s intensive program, Fabio has already helped develop timeline.com, an information portal that contextualizes news to give readers “the story behind the story.”
Currently learning Spanish and the sax, Fabio is known around Axiom Zen’s Santiago offices for his poorly received puns, his (multiple) cooking-related injuries, and his pragmatic personality.
And, of course, his deep passion and talent for all things code.
