Engineering Operations Manager

Vancouver, BC or Remote
What does success look like for you? For folks here, it means thriving in a high-autonomy environment and tackling complex problems in a technical space that is constantly changing and evolving. Our engineering teams are focused on writing great code and shipping groundbreaking products, but many of the day-to-day challenges in running a business pull them away.

We need someone with a strong technical background to help us achieve our mission by taking on the operational projects that come up within our engineering organization. Are you a current or former engineer looking to get into more of the business side of things? Or perhaps you're a deep systems thinker looking to expand your problem solving domain beyond the world of code. Either way, you'll help our company shift the technological landscape and shape the way a new technology is introduced to, and adopted by, new audiences throughout the world by ensuring that our engineering teams can function as smoothly as the code they write.
What you'll accomplish:
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors to get our team the best tools at the most favourable terms
  • Manage a pipeline of engineering contractors to bolster our team's output
  • Standardize our engineering interviewing practices and optimize our flow to highlight and accelerate top candidates
  • Map out resourcing needs and allocate internal resources to align with business priorities and yield the most impactful outcomes
  • Work with engineering managers to track and improve team performance
Our ideal candidate:
  • Has experience working as an engineer within a team shipping high-quality code in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Has experience creating plans, getting buy-in, and driving change management initiatives across an org
  • Is an incisive and analytical thinker who's also able to connect the dots and identify strategic opportunities
  • Has great communication skills; works well with others to make our products and our people better every day
  • Can collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product, design, and HR to move business objectives forward
Bonus points if you have the following:
  • Strong scripting skills and ability to write small tools to automate non-product-related tasks
  • Experience leading a team
