Staff Engineer - JavaScript Framework (Flow)

Remote or Vancouver, BC
We're looking for a Staff level JavaScript engineer with deep technical knowledge. The kind of person who builds frameworks, and doesn't just use them. We're creating a front-end suite of tools to connect web apps with blockchain services, conveniently and securely. But it's really more than that; we're building the foundations that developers will use to create their own blockchain applications. Empowering everyone, from some of the worlds biggest brands, to new programmers alike to be able create blockchain applications in ways they simply couldn't do before. Flow's community is global — and so is the impact of the work we're doing. Join us in defining what the world can expect from the next generation of internet applications built on Flow.
What you'll be up to:
  • You'll create new tools, protocols and frameworks that will connect users, apps, blockchain wallets and services into the Flow ecosystem.
  • Iterating upon our existing JavaScript front-end library to make it easier for developers to build on Flow.
  • Creating ways for users to connect the apps they love with their preferred blockchain services. You'll work to enable blockchain applications to connect to services like credit card payment processors, notification services, identity services and more, all in a decentralized manner.
  • Working with the Flow community to best understand their needs. You'll break down their feedback into actionable items to be executed upon by you and the rest of the Flow team.
  • Optimizing our frameworks for ease of use and scale. Our tools need to be accessible to everyone, yet powerful enough that they can meet the needs of the most demanding applications.
A little about you:
  • You're a JavaScript nerd at heart. We're looking for someone with a deep passion for building secure, powerful and accessible software.
  • We care deeply about our users, which in our case are developers, just like us. Your strong sense of developer empathy is essential to our mission.
  • Ideally you have previous experience developing JavaScript libraries and frameworks, and understand the nuance and tradeoffs involved in creating software that is elegant to use, durable to change and that can help guide us forward in our mission.
